PhotoStory: Hitching a Ride, Maasai Mara
As we came over a verge we suddenly found ourselves in the midst of a herd of Cape buffalo. They were quietly grazing in a bushy area and we were amongst them before we knew it. Each buffalo weighs as much as 600kg but we noticed a much smaller, much busier animal. Dozens of yellow-billed ox peckers were darting to and fro, picking the ticks off of their much-larger friends. There have been a lot of classic odd-couple double-acts and this version of Little and Large certainly entertained our group for a few minutes.
